OTTANTOTTO FIRENZE
2015-2018
Ottantotto is a ‘palazzetto’ located in Florence's Oltrarno. From a Renaissance baker's workshop it became a noble residence and then the home of a charitable organization.
The project has transformed it into a Period Residence with seven rooms spread across six floors and a communal living room overlooking a small, shaded, flower-filled garden.
The spaces have been significantly altered and the restoration took account of the traces left by time: the wood of the beams, the iron, the bronze and brass elements, the ‘grassello’ on the walls, the ‘cotto’ floors, and the ‘pietra serena’ details.
The true inhabitants of these places are the books; there are so many and when a room is empty, it is never empty.
